Description
Alan Jones has been the dedicated Band Director at Lexington High School for the past six years. Through his leadership and passion, he has significantly grown the band program, both in membership and in the high level of musicianship his students consistently achieve. Under his guidance, the band has flourished, earning accolades and respect within the community.
Beyond his role as an educator, Alan is a committed member of the Constantine Lodge in Lexington, TN. As a Freemason, he has contributed to the community through financial support and acts of service, reflecting his deep commitment to helping others.
In addition, Alan has been an active supporter of the Lexington High School Beta Club. While assisting the club for three years, he officially joined its team of sponsors last year, taking a more hands-on role in mentoring the students of this vibrant and successful organization.
Unfortunately, Alan’s life took an unexpected turn in 2024. In March, his father was diagnosed with Stage 3 adenocarcinoma, a form of esophageal cancer. This diagnosis prompted Alan to pursue medical testing for his own symptoms, which included difficulty swallowing certain foods. Following an endoscopy in October, doctors discovered a 17cm tumor extending from the lower esophagus into his stomach. In December, Alan received a diagnosis of Stage 4b adenocarcinoma.
Currently, Alan is undergoing aggressive immunotherapy and chemotherapy at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN, with the dedicated team at Tennessee Oncology leading his care. Despite facing serious complications from the treatment, Alan continues to fight with courage and determination, supported by his family, friends, and community.
Alan has made an incredible impact on the lives of countless students and community members through his work and service. Now, he needs our support more than ever. This fundraiser aims to help Alan with medical expenses and provide him with the assistance needed to focus on his recovery.
